Hearing Agenda

  • Opening remarks from hearing officer/board
  • Plea of either “responsible” or “not responsible” from accused student(s)
    • If there is a plea of “responsible” the hearing moves to the sanctioning phase. Please note, the hearing officer will ask for the pertinent facts of the case prior to sanctioning.
  • Complainant’s opening remarks
  • Accused student’s opening remarks
  • Complainant’s presentation of facts (including questions for complainant)
  • Accused student’s presentation of facts (including questions for the accused student)
  • Questioning of additional witnesses
  • Complainant’s closing statement
  • Accused student’s closing statement
  • Final questions
  • Deliberations: the hearing officer/board will deliberate in private
  • Hearing officer/board will present decision of responsible or not responsible
  • If "not responsible": the hearing is concluded
  • If "responsible": sanctioning phase
    • Presentation of academic record and student conduct history if such history exists
    • Accused student’s impact statement
    • Complainant’s impact statement
    • Hearing officer/board asks questions
  • Sanction deliberation: the hearing officer/board will deliberate in private
  • Sanctions are announced
  • The hearing is concluded
